Product Description

Made in the USA, our 4' Western Red Cedar Glider comfortably seats two - great for patios. The wood glider is 34-1/2" high x 50" wide x 27" deep. The actual sitting size of the seat is 46" wide by 18" deep. This traditional natural wood glider comes with a comfortable contoured seat and the necessary hardware. Our lawn & garden furniture is shipped partially assembled, with easy to follow instructions. All our gliders have ball-bearing glider mechanisms for smooth gliding action. Our patio furniture products are made from natural tight knotty Western Red Cedar with non-staining hardware. Cedar is lightweight, dimensionally stable, and naturally resistant to splitting, cupping, and warping. Western Red Cedar gives our patio furniture strength, beauty & natural resistance to the elements. Weight capacity is 550 lbs. We offer a larger 5' glider and a dual seat 6' settee glider, a single seat 2' wide glider & stained gliders as well. We also have available swings. Each piece is ready for staining, clear finish or simply leave natural. An oil or clear finish with UV light protection will bring out the beauty of the grain and a bit of red tinges in the wood. If the cedar is left natural, it will weather to an unpretentious gray. very traditional rustic look can be done with polyurethane with UV light protection. Clear finishes will slightly darken the wood while bringing out the red tinges found in the grain. Stains are easy to apply, can come in almost any color and do look great. Stains don't chip or peel as can happen with paint. You should apply a finish that will waterproof the wood, and prevent water spots & stains from ruining the look of the wood. Please consult your local paint expert. Some additional sanding may be required, depending on your tastes and the finish that you wish to apply. We ship only within the Continental US - we don't ship to Alaska, Hawaii nor outside the United States. Shipping is added to all furniture orders.

Good Glider - Terrible Instructions

Good Glider - Terrible Instructions
I like the glider. It seems to be well made, and it came well-packed and undamaged. I stained it before assembling, since it's easier to do a good job staining before putting it together. There are only a few pieces to assemble, so I figured it would be a snap to assemble. It wasn't too difficult, but the difficulty came in that the instructions were atrocious! I had read others' reviews where they said that the instructions were bad, but they were able to get the slider assembled anyway. I'm above average when it comes to being mechanically inclined, so I ordered the glider. But once I started assembling it, I just shook my head at the instructions. Starting with the seat assembly, they referenced seven 3-inch bolts in the instructions, but they only include three in the parts. They did include four 3-1/4 inch bolts, but never referenced them in the instructions. They said they included two 4-inch bolts, but the instructions never called for them, and there was only 1 of them in the kit anyway! Moving now to installing the gliding brackets between the seat and the glider base. To start with, they say that they provide 8 carriage bolts to install the brackets; they are not carriage bolts; they are hex bolts. They actually include a diagram of how the bolts should be installed with respect to the washers and nuts. If you do it their way, they rub on the wood when you move the glider. There's a proper way to install the bolts, and the way they show in the instructions is not the way.So what's my bottom line? I like the slider. The wood seems to be good quality cedar, and seems to be well made. If you are mechanically inclined, you won't have any trouble getting it put together once you realize that the instructions will confuse you more than illuminate you. Look at the illustrations, but don't try to get any direction from reading the instructions. In the end, the length of the bolt doesn't matter; just use whatever seems to suit you best. This glider would have been very easy to assemble had it not been for the misdirection provided in the assembly instructions. It's almost like they are deliberately trying to confuse you.
